Tanzania gets the new Apostolic Nuncio

His Excellency Archbishop Marek Solczynski, Titular Archbishop of Cesarea Mauretania has been appointed by His Holiness Pope Francis to be the new Apostolic Nuncio to Tanzania.

Currently, he was an Apostolic Nuncio to Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The new Nuncio was born on 7 April 1961 in Stawiszyn (Poland), ordained priest on 28 May 1987; he was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Warsaw. He holds a Doctorate in Canon Law.

He entered the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See on 1 April 1993 and has served successively in the Apostolic Nunciatures in Paraguay and Russia, at the Diplomatic Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations (New York), in the United States of America, Turkey, Czech Republic and Spain.

Archbishop Solezynski was appointed Apostolic to Georgia and Armenia on 26 November 2011 and on 14 April 2012 to Azerbaijan.

He speaks French, English, Spanish, Italian and Russian.

Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) President Rt Rev Tarcisius Ngalalekumtwa said the Church in Tanzania thanks the Almighty God that the country has got the new Nuncio who will link the Tanzanian Church with the Universe.

“He will unite our Church and the World; there are things which need to be tackled. We hope that he will coordinate things well.” He said.

Meanwhile the Auxirially Bishop of the Diocese of Bukoba Rt. Rev Methodius Kilaini said that he is happy and he believes that other Bishops have thanked God for getting Pope’s representative in the country because he will build good relationship between Tanzania and Vatican.

When it will be decided, the Apostolic Nunciature will communicate the arrival date of the new Apostolic Nuncio.
